Cynthia Nixon‘s Sex and the City character Miranda Hobbs was known for her strong, no-nonsense personality. But, Nixon recalled one date in particular that “intimidated” her character, and even got cut from show.

When Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen asked Nixon on his show last night (June 29) if there were any storylines she wished hadn’t been cut from SATC, Nixon pointed to one particular fling from Season 3.

“Miranda dated a really hot detective who she was very intimidated by, she thought he was really out of her league, so she got wildly drunk,” Nixon recalled.

The detective in question was Detective Stevens (Timothy Gibbs), the detective on the scene when Carrie Bradshaw got mugged in Season 3, Episode 17. As Carrie’s lawyer, Miranda gets to the scene immediately, where she hits it off with the “hot detective.” But when they go on their date, she grows more and more insecure about how good looking he is and goes a bit overboard on the martinis.

“They didn’t cut that plot, but they cut the sex scene where she’s really, really drunk and then vomits all over him,” she revealed.

Cohen could not believe it. “And that was where they drew the line?” he asked.

Earlier this month, Nixon admitted she was “always fairly game” to film sex scenes for the show, considering its main focus was on the characters’ dating lives.

“I feel like I was always fairly game for it,”she told ET. “It’s just one of the main subjects of the show is sex — people having sex and people having great sex and people having terrible sex and people having hilarious sex.”

Now, Miranda is exploring a new phase in her sexuality in the show’s revival, And Just Like That, now that she’s left her marriage behind to be with nonbinary comedian Ché Diaz (Sara Ramírez).

“Miranda continues her sort of second adolescence in her sexual orientation journey,” Ramirez told ET. “And Ché is continuing their adolescence stage of their third adolescent now with their relationship to fame and so they both create this experience with each other in Los Angeles.”

And Just Like That Season 2 is now streaming on Max with new episodes premiering on Thursdays. Watch Nixon’s WWHL appearance in the video above.
