New Movies & Shows To Watch This Weekend: ‘Flamin’ Hot’ on Disney+ & Hulu + More

We all love a good origin story, and sometimes that origin story weaves together stories of triumph, perseverance, and crunchy, corn-based snack foods. That’s what you’ll get with this week’s big release, Flamin’ Hot, which is out on not one but two streaming platforms, Disney+and Hulu. It’s just one of may new shows and movies that are premiering this weekend.

Not sure which new releases to check out? Let us here at Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.

New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Flamin’ Hot, Never Have I Ever, The Crowded Room + More

A lot has been made about the fact that the main character in the new Hulu movie Flamin’ Hot, Richard Montañez, may have embellished his role in developing the signature flavor of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. But the truth is that his story, regardless of how much input he had in the development of the snack, is still impressive. Rising from janitor to Frito-Lay executive, he and his story are inspirational, and, dare I say it, cheesy. On Netflix, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is back for one final season as Devi, the boy-crazy and ambitious high schooler at the center of Never Have I Ever. And on Apple TV+, Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried pair up for The Crowded Room, a 10-part psychological thriller that was created by Oscar-winning writer Akiva Goldsman and explores the life and mind of a man who may or may not be a killer.

New on Hulu Friday, June 9: Flamin’ Hot

Like all curious minds, I’ve often wondered who put the flame in the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Thankfully, Flamin’ Hot is here to answer that question. Eva Longoria makes her directorial debut with the film that tells the rags to riches story of Richard Montañez (played by Jesse Garcia, who is also currently starring opposite Jennifer Lopez in The Mother), the janitor at Frito-Lay who (maybe) helped come up with the formula for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The film will premiere on Hulu and Disney+ on Friday.

New on Netflix Thursday, June 8: Never Have I Ever (Season 4)

The fourth and final season of Never Have I Ever is finally here, and it’s senior year, baby. Last season, Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) decided to stay at Sherman Oaks High School, she and Ben (Jaren Lewison) hooked up, and Paxton (Darren Barnet) graduated. This season though, just because Paxton is in college, that doesn’t mean he’s out of her life. And to further complicate things, there’s a new boy at school, Ethan, played by Michael Cimino. Devi has a lot to wrap up before college, and we’re gonna binge it all this weekend.

New on Apple TV+ Friday, June 9: The Crowded Room

In Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room, Tom Holland plays Danny Sullivan, a man who has been arrested after being involved in a shooting in New York City in 1979. Amanda Seyfried stars as Rya Goodwin, the interrogator who interviews Danny after his arrest, and helps piece together his mysterious past which led to his involvement in the crime. The first three episodes will air Friday, with new episodes airing weekly through July 28.
