‘Single Parents’
Sometimes, we need to look back on the great sitcoms we’ve lost over the years. One of those happens to be Single Parents, the ABC sitcom from New Girl creator Elizabeth Meriwether that was canceled in 2020 just as it was beginning to hit its stride. Single Parents follows a group of, well, single parents who help each other navigate parenthood, dating, weekend sleepovers, and carpooling. It features a strong cast that depends equally on the adults and their kid counterparts – and everyone can carry their weight. Leighton Meester shines in her role as the messy and detached Angie D’Amato, whose cold heart is reluctantly melted by Taran Killam’s goofiness. But the show’s good-natured comedy allows for both family friendly antics and some adult fun.
