Where was The Witcher filmed?

According to Netflix, Season 1 of the show was filmed in Hungary, Poland and Spain. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, production was tightened and all of Season 2 was filmed in the UK, at 15 different locations.

Arborfield Film Studios, which was once an army barracks that is now 100 years old, is where production on Season 2 was based out of. The studio’s backlot also became the site for the numerous village sets and the exterior of Kaer Morhen.

Some of the specific locations where the show filmed in the UK were Coldharbour Wood in Chichester, Bourne Wood in Farnham, the British Army training base MOD Deepcut Surrey, Blea Tarn in Lake District, Cumbria, the caves of Hodge Close Quarry, Rydal Cave, County Durham, Gordale Scar in Yorkshire Dales National Park, Fountains Abbey and Plumpton Rocks.

For Season 3, production seemed to expand to other countries again as one of the scenes was filmed in the Laghi di Fusi in Tarvision, Italy.

The Guildford Cathedral in Surrey, England, is the location that is used for Emperor Emhyr’s palace. The new season also shoots in Thee Cliffs Bay in Wales (Thanedd Island), Strawberry Hill Ponds in London (the Belleteyn festival) and Stara Baska, located on Krk Island in Croatia (the house by the lake seen in the trailer).

Season 3 was also filmed near the Nash Point Lighthouse in Glamorgan Heritage Coast, South Wales and production was based out of Longcross Studios in Surrey, England.
