The rumors are true: Juliette has LEFT the silo, people.

The eventful Season 1 finale of Graham Yost’s suspenseful sci-fi series (based on Hugh Howey’s popular Wool novels) premiered on Apple TV+ Friday, June 30. And though it answered some burning questions we’ve had since the start of the season, the episode also gives rise to a number of new mysteries that will hopefully be explored down the line.

So has Apple TV+ renewed Silo for Season 2? Will we get to learn what’s in store for Juliette, Billings, Sims, Walker, and the rest of the silo residents? And what could a potential Season 2 look like? Here’s everything we know about the future of the Apple TV+ series.

Was Silo Renewed For Season 2 on Apple TV+?

Great news, Silo fans! Apple TV+ greenlit a Season 2 on June 14, two weeks ahead of the Season 1 finale premiere.

“It has been enormously fulfilling to see the engrossing, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic Silo quickly become Apple’s number one drama series,” Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said in a statement. “As audiences around the world have become gripped by the mysteries and conspiracies buried within this fascinating subterranean world, viewership only continues to climb, and we are so excited for more secrets of the silo to be revealed in season two.”

“We cannot wait for audiences around the world to immerse themselves in the epic world we have created to bring Hugh Howey’s novels to life,” Yost said. “Apple has believed in our vision from day one and it’s an honor to have the opportunity to dig deeper into this story and peel back the layers to our characters in the Silo.”

When Will Silo Season 2 Premiere On Apple TV+? Season 2 Premiere Date Info:

Though an exact premiere date or rollout schedule for Silo Season 2 remains unknown, star Rebecca Ferguson confirmed that filming has already begun in an interview with EW.

“I’ve read the books, but I also know that we deviate a bit from the book to be able to create the narrative that we need to do the show, so I wasn’t sure where [showrunner] Graham [Yost] was going with it. Once I got to that, my head went, ‘And then what?’ I called Graham and went, ‘Season 2, what’s happening?'” she said. “He was like, ‘I haven’t pitched it yet to Apple.’ I was like, ‘I don’t care. What’s happening?’ I’m always 10 steps ahead. But I’m in it right now. We’re shooting [season 2], so I’m very excited.”

Ferguson also told EW she’s producing Season 2, and all of the script changes were made prior to the writer’s strike so filming should stay on track. Considering the second season is already in production, we could expect to see new episodes of Silo in 2024, though that’s always subject to change. In the meantime, what can fans of the series expect from a Season 2? The major Season 1 cliffhanger gives us some ideas.

Silo Season 1 Ending Explained: What Will Season 2 Be About?

If you’re looking for a detailed explainer of Silo‘s Season 1 finale, “Outside,” Decider has you covered. But the big cliffhanger that offers the most insight into potential Season 2 storylines comes after Juliette leaves the silo and she sees the same picturesque, colorful world from the hard drive video. Allison and Holston’s bodies are nowhere to be found, so she walks up to the silo’s camera, holds her cleaning rag out, and drops it on the ground in a show of victory.

Inside the silo, Bernard assures Sims that Juliette will be dead before she reaches the tree. And like those before her, she falls to the ground right on time. We quickly realize she didn’t stumble because she’s in physical distress, though. She tripped over an object that’s invisible to her, but very clearly seen through the silo’s window as Holston’s body. Juliette bends down to the ground and feels around, triggering a simulation glitch in the picturesque display she was sure was real. A panicked Bernard says, “SHE KNOWS,” and sprints to the server room.

As Juliette takes in Holston and Allison’s deaths and wonders why she’s still alive, she looks at the tape on her suit and repeats the line from Walker’s note earlier in the episode: “They’re good in supply.” Walker ensured her suit was fitted with her high-quality heat tape, and in the end, it saved her life. As Juliette reaches the top of the hill and looks out at a lush grassy meadow, flowers, trees, and birds, Bernard reaches the server room, opens his “18” key, and disables Juliette’s beautiful display, revealing everyone’s biggest fear. The desolate, barren world seen from inside the silo is, in fact, reality. And with a city far in the distance and dirt and dead bodies surrounding her, Juliette has no choice but to keep walking. As the camera pans, we see the ground before her is full of other silo entrances, and somehow we’re left with even more questions than when we began.

We have no clue how long Juliette can survive in that suit or where she goes from here, but Season 2 will hopefully explore life both inside and outside the silo, following Juliette’s journey and possibly showing her seek safety in another silo?! We still have questions about the door George was talking about, how the silo residents will respond to Juliette’s seemingly successful escape, and of course how the silos and chaos outside came to be. So here’s hoping we get more answers soon.

Until then, Silo is streaming on Apple TV+ for all your rewatch needs.
