Investigation Discovery’s docu-series The Curious Case of Natalia Grace tells the story of a 6-year-old orphan from the Ukraine named Natalia Grace who was adopted in 2010 by American couple Kristine and Michael Barnett.

Eventually, the Barnetts discovered that Natalia suffered from a form of dwarfism called spondyloepiphysea dysplasia congenita, and they began to suspect that she was not only lying about her age, but actively trying to harm them.

They claimed Natalia tried to poison Kristine, and Michael claimed Natalia threatened him with a knife, which led them to flee to Canada and leave Natalia behind, abandoning her in Indiana.

While the claims against Natalia are shocking, they have left many viewers divided over who is telling the truth. Many have wondered what happened to Natalia Grace after the events of the documentary. Fortunately, Investigation Discovery is planning to air a follow-up documentary called The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks in which Natalia will reveal her side of the story.

Where Is Natalia Grace Now?

After the Barnetts abandoned Natalia, Cynthia and Antwon Mans became her legal guardians in 2016. Though her birth certificate was change by the Barnett family to state that she was born in 1989, she maintains that she was born in 2003, making her 19.

In an exclusive clip for Natalia Speaks, which was posted to Entertainment Tonight‘s website, Grace says, “It’s very frustrating to hear everything that’s being said from Kristin and Michael, because I already don’t know who I am, and I want to know who I am and what happened to me, but I’m hearing all this stuff that never actually happened from Kristine and Michael.”

“I’m just like, it’s shocking, and it’s frustrating, because that’s not true. And people are believing what Kristine and Michael are saying without even hearing my side,” she says in the clip. “This is my side of the story and I’m gonna say what happened because I never got a chance to say what happened. Y’all have heard from Kristine and Michael and what they have said. But you need to hear both sides in order to know what happened.”

The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks does not have a premiere date, but will reportedly come out this summer.
