If you, like millions of other people, watched the Oscars last night, you definitely saw several commercials advertising new movies and TV shows, the 100th anniversaries of both Disney and Warner Brothers, and… Verizon?

Using Netflix properties primarily, the telecommunications giant advertised its +play service, launched in late 2022, during Hollywood’s biggest night, but the question still remains: What is +play?

Luckily, we’ve got all the answers, so read on for everything you need to know about +play, including how to sign up.

What is Verizon +play?

Verizon +play is an online platform that lets users manage their online subscriptions by aggregating them into a single account.

Essentially, users can subscribe to several streaming entertainment, fitness, and lifestyle channels directly through Verizon and manage the payment information all in one place. It doesn’t change how you access your content — you’ll still sign into all the services you subscribe to directly on their websites to view everything they offer.

+play just makes it easier to keep track of what you’re subscribed to and how you pay for it.

How much does +play cost?

Opting in to +play is free, but you’ll be charged for any subscription you add on.

Do I have to be a Verizon customer to use +play?

Yes. You’ll need a Verizon mobile account. This includes those under Verizon postpaid, mobile, 5G Home, and LTE Home.

Verizon Fios customers who use a different mobile provider are not eligible to sign up for +play.

What subscriptions are available on +play?

The following streaming, lifestyle, and fitness brands are partnered with Verizon +play:

  • A&E Crime Central
  • ABCmouse
  • Adventure Academy
  • AMC+
  • The Athletic
  • Calm
  • Discovery+
  • Disney+
  • Disney Bundle – ESPN+
  • Disney Bundle – Hulu
  • Duolingo
  • Fox Nation
  • Google Play Pass
  • HISTORY Vault
  • HBO Max
  • Kocowa
  • Lifetime Movie Club
  • NBA League Pass
  • NBA TV
  • Netflix
  • NFL
  • Peleton
  • Perlego
  • Starz
  • Stingray
  • Up Faith and Family
  • Wondrium
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

+play users will occasionally have offers placed into their accounts for free trials, discounted subscription rates, and more.

What if I already subscribe to a partner service?

Unfortunately, if you have a preexisting subscription to any of +play’s services, except for Netflix and HBO Max, you will need to cancel your direct subscription before resubscribing with +play.

Netflix and HBO Max allow users to move their subscription billing details to +play without canceling first.

What is that Netflix offer the commercial talked about?

For a limited time, +play users who add a qualifying subscription to their account will receive one year of Netflix’s premium subscription, which costs $19.99/month. Over the course of one year, you’ll save $240 with this promotion.

The qualifying subscriptions must be paid in full for one year at the time of purchase. To get the Netflix offer, you’ll have to add one of the following: Peleton App ($130/year), Paramount+ Premium ($100/year), STARZ ($75/year), AMC+ ($84/year), Super Duolingo ($84/year), Calm ($70/year), and MasterClass ($90/year).

If you’re already a Netflix subscriber, simply sign in using your preexisting credentials after you’ve purchased a BOGO package, and your billing information will transfer to +play.
