When awkward 16-year-old Ruby Gillman (Condor) defies her mother’s rules and goes into the ocean, she learns that she is part-Kraken royalty as she’s the granddaughter of the Warrior Queen of the Seven Seas (Fonda).

While she learns to adjust to her newfound powers, Ruby is tasked with saving the world from evil mermaids.

As of now, the only way to watch Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, June 30. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, YouTube or Amazon, or releases for streaming on Peacock and Netflix.

While a Peacock release date for Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken has not yet been announced, we can make an estimate based on another recent film distributed by Universal Pictures.

Cocaine Bear was released in theaters on Feb. 24 before joining the streaming platform on April 14 — a little over 45 days after its debut. If Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken follows the same trajectory, it should come to Peacock by early August 2023 — where it will remain for the first four months of its pay-one partner window before moving to Netflix. WILL RUBY GILLMAN, TEENAGE KRAKEN BE ON NETFLIX?

Because of a deal inked between Universal Pictures and DreamWorks, Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken will join Netflix after four months of streaming exclusively on Peacock — which means it would land on the platform likely around December 2023. It will remain on Netflix for 10 months, before returning to Peacock for the final four months of the pay-one partner window. According to the deal, Netflix regains full access to Universal’s animated library four years after a movie’s release.
