Extraction 2

Powered by Reelgood

Following its release on Netflix earlier this month, fans seriously can’t get enough of the action-packed thriller Extraction 2 (and Chris Hemsworth, of course).

After barely surviving his mission in Bangladesh, Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) embarks on a brand new adventure. His goal? Rescue his sister-in-law and her children from a dangerous drug lord. Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa reprise their roles from the original in Extraction 2, and Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili and Idris Elba enter the franchise as brand new characters, adding up to a star-studded cast that is truly unmatched.

After you’ve made your way through the heart-racing 21-minute “one-take” shot, you’re probably eagerly awaiting Extraction 3 — which hasn’t been announced yet, but probably will be any day now given the success of the sequel.

Until then, here are seven movies you’ll want to extract from your streaming queue between viewings of Extraction 2.

1

The Gray Man

Written and produced by Joe Russo, one of the brains behind the Extraction franchise, The Gray Man is a must-see thriller starring another Marvel-ous Chris.

Based on the novel of the same name by Mark Greaney,  the 2022 film tells the story Six (Ryan Gosling), an assassin recruited by the CIA who stumbles upon a life-changing secret during a mission. Due to his shocking discovery, Six quickly becomes the victim of a worldwide manhunt, orchestrated by none other than Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), his psychopathic former colleague.

The Gray Man has a much more sly, mysterious plot than the action-packed Extraction franchise, but with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans serving as the protagonist and antagonist of the beloved film, we could not imagine a better (or should we say better-looking?) cast to take us on the adventure of a lifetime.

One of best action movies of all time, Hard Boiled tells the story of Inspector “Tequila” Yuen Ho-yan (Chow Yun-fat) and his dangerous mission to take down a gunrunner. With a shootout in a tea house, a finale in a hospital, and more pulse-pounding scenes throughout the film, Hard Boiled is sure to have you hooked from start to finish.

The must-see film is known to have one of the most iconic one-shot action sequences of all time, which fans have compared to that 21-minute sequence in Extraction 2. And if you want to live out your Hard Boiled fantasies, a video game sequel titled Stranglehold was released in 2007 as well, transporting the player into the world we see in the 1992 film.

Carter

CARTER 2022 NETFLIX MOVIE REVIEW
Photo: Netflix

Carter tells the story of a man, portrayed by Joo Won, who is thrown straight into a zombie apocalypse with no idea who he is, how he ended up there, or who the voice in his head is calling him by the name of “Carter.” With none of his memories intact, he must escape death all while trying to get his bearings straight. With the majority of the movie playing out as one continuous take, and aith a series of fights, shootouts and stunts involving planes, trains and helicopters, Carter is perfect for those of you looking for a gripping film that some may say is even TOO action-packed.
