Paul Wesley says he’s not interested in doing a reboot of the popular series Vampire Diaries, despite how much fans might want to see that.

The actor, who starred as Stefan Salvatore for eight seasons of the hit supernatural CW series, says he doesn’t miss playing the kindhearted yet brooding vampire and has no desire to star in anything vampire-related ever again.

“I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone Vampire Diaries,” he said in an interview with InStyle, saying a reboot of the show would be a “hard pass” for him.

The Vampire Diaries was based on the popular L.J. Smith novels and centered on teenage girl Elena (Nina Dobrev) as she navigates a love triangle between vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) in the magical town of Mystic Falls.

Although the role of Stefan catapulted Wesley into stardom, it’s not a part he’s interested in revisiting. “I don’t really miss anything about playing him, and I don’t mean that in a [negative way],” he said. “Eight years is a long time, and I’m so glad to put that to rest. Eight seasons.”

He did, however, truly love how “dynamic” his character was throughout the entire CW series.

“Because the show ran for such a long time, in order for it to not become monotonous, every season, he sort of had a different arc,” he said. “At one point he was pure evil, and he started out as the good guy and then he ended as the good guy. But I liked the challenge of trying to keep the character fresh.”

In a 2022 Us Weekly interview, Wesley had shared that he was “vampired out,” already alluding to never wanting to return to the character again.

Wesley currently stars as Captain James Tiberius Kirk on the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which began streaming on Paramount+ in June.
