America’s Got Talent winner Michael Grimm has been hospitalized following a mysterious health issue.

According to his wife, Lucie Zolcerva-Grimm, the singer has been hospitalized since Memorial Day after he found that he couldn’t lift his head or walk anymore, TMZ reports. He is currently in the ICU where he remains unconscious. She has not shared what the cause of his illness is.

Zolcerva-Grimm stated that he had not been feeling well for some time before the hospitalization, though they could not figure out why. His condition was also beginning to impact his performances.

His health reportedly deteriorated after he was rushed to the emergency room on Memorial Day. Grimm’s wife said that his blood pressure increased once he got there and he began “talking gibberish,” TMZ reports, leading the doctors to rush Grimm to the ICU, where he is still being held.

He was then sedated and put on a ventilator, though he has since been taken off of the machine.

In a post to his social media updating fans on his health, Zolcerva-Grimm said, “It’s been an emotional ride. I know you all love Michael.” The caption included details for fans to donate and help, urging them to purchase his music.

Grimm won the $1 million prize on Season 5 of America’s Got Talent. He has since continued performing live and making music, earning him a spot as an opening act for Stevie Nicks in 2011. He later went on to compete in America’s Got Talent: The Champions in 2020 before he was eliminated.

Zolcerva-Grimm said the singer would be needing physical therapy when he wakes up because he’s been sedated and bedridden throughout his hospitalization. She also shared that he will have to have his vocal cords repaired due to being placed on the ventilator.

As TMZ reports, “Michael’s wife says fans shouldn’t panic because he has great doctors.”
