Is ‘The Little Mermaid’ Streaming on Disney+ or Netflix?

The highly anticipated live-action version of The Little Mermaid is finally coming to theaters. Fortunately, we have all the ways you can watch this Disney classic come to life!

The Little Mermaid follows Ariel (Halle Bailey) — a young mermaid longing for adventure outside of the sea. When evil sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) offers her the chance to meet Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) — a human — Ariel trades in her angelic voice for a pair of legs, where she and her fellow sea creature friends must make the prince fall in love with her or she risks placing her life and her family’s lives in danger.

So, where can you watch The Little Mermaid? When will it be on Disney+? Will it be on any other streamers?

WHERE TO WATCH THE LITTLE MERMAID:

UPDATE 7/6/23: The Little Mermaid will officially become available to purchase or rent on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, Amazon and YouTube on Tuesday, July 25. Plus, it will release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray and DVD on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

WHEN WILL THE LITTLE MERMAID BE ON STREAMING? WHEN WILL THE LITTLE MERMAID BE ON DISNEY PLUS?

While a streaming release date has not yet been announced, we can give an educated guess on when The Little Mermaid will come to Disney+ based on a previous Walt Disney Studios film. Though there’s no set pattern, many Disney movies stream close to 45 days after their theatrical release, usually on the Friday after. If that’s the case, The Little Mermaid could be streaming on Disney+ as early as July 14, 2023.

However, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was released in theaters on Feb. 17 before coming to Disney+ on May 17 — about three months after its debut. If The Little Mermaid follows this trajectory, it may not join the streaming platform until late August 2023.

The Little Mermaid will likely not be on Netflix since it will go straight to Disney+ after its theatrical run.
