Jamie Foxx is now months into healing from his medical scare, and his fans and co-stars alike are still hoping for a speedy recovery for the star.

Thankfully, Porscha Coleman, Foxx’s co-star in the Netflix sitcom Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!, shared a positive update on his health during the 2023 BET Awards on Sunday (June 25.)

“I’ve talked to people very close to Foxx, [he] is doing well,” Coleman told Entertainment Tonight. “I hate that the media outlets kept running with the narrative of what was going on without having the proper information.”

She later added, “Once I heard the news, of course, I reached out, but how Foxx is doing it is how Foxx should be doing it. He’s resting, he’s well. And he’s going to be back. Trust and believe.”

In Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, Foxx’s character must get used to being a single father after his teenage daughter unexpectedly moves in with him. The show was later canceled after just one season.

Coleman only had good things to say about her time working with the veteran actor, saying they would often “play too much” behind the scenes.

The actress added that she was “never surprised” by Foxx’s continued silence throughout his medical recovery as he’s always kept his personal life private. “One thing about Jamie is that he’s always valued his privacy. If you’ve noticed, Jamie Foxx has always been on the low,” she said. “Even when it came to dating, Jamie’s always been private, so it never surprised me.”

Foxx has not said much since taking a step back from his career to recover from an undisclosed medical scare in April. Almost three weeks after his daughter Corinne Foxx announced his hospitalization, Foxx made his first social media post to thank his supporters for wishing him well.

“Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed,” he wrote in an Instagram post. He also thanked Nick Cannon for taking over as co-host on Beat Shazam, the music competition he hosted with Corinne.

By most accounts to those close to him, Foxx appears to be on the mend. His daughter addressed the rumors spreading online about his health back in May, saying he “has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating.”

Despite his absence from the public eye, Foxx still has many projects to release and announcements to make. His sci-fi satire They Cloned Tyrone recently premiered, and he is already set to host another game show with his daughter, We Are Family, after exiting Beat Shazam.

Coleman seemed positive about the actor’s recovery despite his continued silence.

“I look forward to seeing him. I know he’s doing great and he’ll be back, trust and believe,” she said. “He got a lot of projects coming up, a lot of music that I already know he has. So, I’m excited. I love you Foxx!”
