Jamie Foxx will not be returning as host for Beat Shazam Season 6 after recently suffering an undisclosed medical scare.

TMZ reports that production on Beat Shazam Season 6 begins today with a new host attached, though their identity has not yet been revealed. Foxx’s daughter Corinne Foxx, who co-hosts and DJs on the show, will also not be returning next season as she is staying by her dad’s side in the hospital, per TMZ.

This is not the first of Foxx’s projects to move forward without him due to his ongoing hospitalization.

The entertainer was also attached to the Netflix action comedy Back in Action, which was filming in Atlanta when he first suffered his medical emergency. Photos from the set show production has continued after a brief pause. The movie is using a body double to fill in for Foxx, who was set to star opposite Cameron Diaz.

Foxx has been in the hospital since experiencing an undisclosed “medical emergency” on April 11, according to the statement released last month by his daughter. He remains in the hospital, though his exact condition has been kept tightly under wraps by those close to him.

TMZ reports that sources close to the star are now asking for prayers for his recovery.

Previous reports claimed he was “steadily improving.” A source also told People that Foxx was “awake and alert” and being kept under observation as doctors administered tests.

Entertainer and comedian Martin Lawrence also shared an update on the actor during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in April. “I hear he’s doing better… My prayers go out for him every night and just wishing the best for him, one of the best that we got in Hollywood,” he said at the time.

Tracy Morgan, Steve Harvey and a number of other stars who worked with Foxx throughout his decades-long career have also come forward to wish the actor well.

At the time, ET reported that Foxx was “healing [and] feels the love from everyone.”
