More than 100 million people have joined Mark Zuckerberg‘s new social media platform, Threads, since it launched last week — including the ladies of The View. During this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show, Sara Haines and the rest of the co-hosts explained why they prefer the new medium to Twitter.

Whoopi Goldberg initiated the conversation during a Hot Topics segment, where she described Threads as the “new threat to Twitter.” With an overwhelming number of people signing up for the platform in such a short amount of time, the longtime moderator said Elon Musk (Twitter’s CEO) “does not seem happy.”

“He shouldn’t have screwed up Twitter the way he did,” Sunny Hostin jumped in, claiming that Twitter has “become so toxic” since Musk took over.

While she used to rely on verified accounts for reliable information, Hostin said anyone can claim anything — including the woman who called her the “B-word” — now that any user can pay for a once-coveted blue check.

“Oh, that was me,” Goldberg joked, referring to Hostin’s hater.

Meanwhile, Haines noted that Twitter was going “downhill” long before Musk took over. She told the panel, “Most of us had aborted checking it for fear of losing your mental well-being.”

While Haines was hesitant to join another platform similar to Twitter, she eventually gave in once she saw her fellow co-hosts had already signed up themselves — and ultimately enjoyed her experience much more.

“I went on Threads and I liked it because right now there are no ads — which that will probably change,” she said. “But it was refreshing to not be getting male enhancement [ads] and all these things. I don’t know why I get that, by the way. I’m not interested so they can stop now.”

Goldberg playfully added, “That’s me, too. I’m sending you those, too.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
